The online-optimisation of the production order sequence leads to better keeping of due dates, fewer machine setups and a lower WIP stock level. An e cient simulation environment, in which all order and manufacturing data can be altered for testing, enables a rapid run through of what-if scenarios and alternative production schedules. As a further step to reduce manufacturing costs the Advaris production planning module provides new functions for the optimisation of drum sizes and single production lengths per machine, taking into account the required delivery lengths, added lengths (start up scrap, test lengths) and the available drum sizes.
