Fonatur MEXICO

With 42 years of experience, Fonatur has achieved ever-increasing national and international prestige with a successful business model that has created Integrally Planned Centers (IPCs) and Integrated Tourism Projects (ITPs) in Mexico in places such as Cancún, Ixtapa, Los Cabos, Loreto Huatulco, Litibú and Cozumel Marina, in addition to those that are under development at Playa Espíritu in Sinaloa. In key destinations across the country, Fonatur has tourist products ranging from golf courses and marinas, to hotels and sports harbors. In 2015, the World Tourism Organization announced that Mexico registered the arrival of a record 32.1 million international tourists, consolidating its position as the ninth most visited country in the world. As a result of the work carried out by Fonatur, in the past three years Mexican destinations have been named as the favorites for national and international visitors, positioning Los Cabos as the second most popular tourist destination in the country. This development of San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas offers a prime location on the southern tip of the peninsula of Baja California, with a spectacular mountain range between the two towns. The area, surrounded by the sea, desert and mountains, is recognized as an international center for fishing and golf and is soon to be declared a World Heritage Site. The natural wealth is complemented by nautical facilities such as the Marina Cabo San Lucas, which is able to accommodate up to 1,000 boats. With its wealth, beauty and investment opportunities, Puerto Escondido, Loreto, is one of the destinations with the greatest economic and tourist potential in the region. Bathed in the Sea of Cortez – commonly referred to as “the world’s aquarium” – Puerto Escondido plays host to national and international tourists seeking ecotourism activities including cycling, water sports and sport fishing, among others. In this corridor, there are currently 157 lots available, of which 11 are registered for commercial mixed-land use, 114 are earmarked for hotels, and 32 lots are for single-family housing.
