MR. ANTHONY R. CARROLL, Solicitor, died upon the 19th December, 1915, at his residence 2 Upper Sherrard Street, Dublin. Mr. Carroll served his apprenticeship with his father, the late Mr. Redmond Carroll, Summerhill, Dublin, was admitted in Trinity Term, 1859, and practised formerly at 47 North Great George's Street, and latterl}' at 2 Upper Sherrard Street, Dublin. MR. JOSEPH H. BENNETT, Solicitor, died upon the 19th December, 1915, at his residence Brumana, Rushbrooke, Co. Cork. Mr. Bennett served his apprenticeship with his father, the late Mr. Joseph Bennett, Cork, was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 1883, and practised at 17 Parnell Place, Cork. MR. BENJAMIN H. LANE, Solicitor, died upon the 22nd December, 1915, at his residence, Rush Hall, Limavady. Mr. Lane served his apprenticeship with his father, the late Mr. Hugh Lane, Limavady, was admitted in Trinity Term, 1869, and practised at Limavady (recently in partner ship with Mr. Edward M. F. Boyle, under the style of Messrs. B. H. Lane and Co.). Mr. Lane held the office of Sessional Crown Solicitor for»the County of Londonderry from the year 1888 to the year 1913, when he resigned. MR. GEORGE TRUMBULL, Solicitor, died upon the 30th December, 1915, at Beech- wood, Malahide, Co. Dublin. Mr. Trumbull served his apprenticeship with Mr. Charles A. Stannell, 5 Dawson Street, Dublin, was admitted in Easter Sittings, 1891, and practised formerly at 5 Dawson Street, and latterly at 137 St. Stephen's Green, Dublin. Commissioners to Administer Oaths. THE Lord Chancellor has appointed the following to be Commissioners to administer Oaths :— Henry Blaekburne, Solicitor, Carrick- fergus. Thomas T. Reilly, Clerk of Petty Sessions, Ardee. John Cluskey, Solicitor's Assistant, Nenagh. Patrick Maguire, Clerk in County Council Office, Monaghan.

Rules of the Supreme Court of Judicature in Ireland. BY an Order in Council dated 21st December, 1915, three amendments have been made to the Rules of the Supreme Court (Ireland), 1905. ORDER XXXVII. Rule 1 of this Order provided that in the absence of any agreement in writing between the Solicitors of all parties, the evidence should be given viva voce and in open Court. The following Rule has now been added to this Order, 'as Rule 1, A. :— During the continuance of the war, notwithstanding the provisions of the previous Rule, the Court or a Judge may, for sufficient reason, and on such terms as the Court or Judge shall direct, allow the evidence of any person in naval or military service or engaged out of the United Kingdom in any operations ancillary to naval or militaty service, or who is a prisoner of war, to be given by affidavit. ORDER XXXVIII., RULE 7. This Rule provides as to the persons before whom affidavits in causes and matters depending in the High Court may be sworn. The following proviso has been added to this Rule :— Provided that where, by reason of the war, it is not practicable for any person outside th'e United Kingdom to fulfil the foregoing requirements, any such examina tion, affidavit, declaration, affirmation, attestation of honour or acknowledgment may be sworn and taken before any adjutant or officer commanding a regiment. Lieutenant, R.N. or R.N.R., or other officer holding higher rank in either Army or Navy, and the persons, Judges and Courts hereinbefore mentioned shall take judicial notice of the signature of such military or naval officer. ORDER LXIL, RULE 66. New War Loan is substituted in this Rule for 2-|- per cent. Consolidated Stock,, as the Stock in which the Accountant-General shall, after the expiration of six months, invest all sums of cash of not less than £50 lodged in Court in the Chancery Division.
