Hello from Connie

Hi Friends,

I miss all of you so much! I work in my office daily, but I must admit it has a different feel. Not all bad, just quiet, and as you know or may suspect I’m not very good at being quiet. The more I have going on the better I handle my time and the man- agement of it. I walked out of the office on Friday evening with a little skip in my step because I received quite a few phone calls wondering about Club activities. I have been dealing with many postponements and cancellations so answer- ing calls from you is pure music to my ears. I have more good news. I added a few local events so that we have something to do together. I realize that not everyone will be ready for activities and I totally understand and respect the need for additional precautions but wanted to have something for those who are ready to go again. Soon we will be through this unusual event and planning even more events to enjoy. I had to change the dates on a few activities we had planned. The Celebration Belle four-hour cruise is now August 19 and the Jim McDonough in home concert changed to September 10. I added a trip to the Arboretum on August 4 with an em- phasis on the Herb garden. Please take a minute to look at the description on page 6. We are heading to Four Mounds on September 2 where we have a few hours of fun planned. We are also going to Creative Adventure Lab to make suncatchers. We will have time to chat and enjoy a few refreshments. Please look in the Journal in the Local Events section. I love hearing your stories and about the creative activities you are coming up with to entertain your families. We all have a new appreciation for the word virtual. Who would have thought Zoom calls would be part of our daily schedule. Please con- tinue to try to find the positive in every situation. It is there somewhere, and I think finding it is like winning the lottery. We are meant for greatness. Keep in touch.

Smile Often!!

Missing Word Contest: Our Missing Word Contest winner for May/June was Gary Linden, who received a check for $25. The missing word was “Guy,” and the song title was “This Guy’s In Love With You.” We have hidden another song title with a missing word in this issue. Read your Connections Club newsletter carefully, looking for any words enclosed in [brackets] like this. Rearrange the words to form the title or extended title of a popular song. One word will be missing. Figure out the missing word, and write the missing word only on the Missing Word Contest form found below. All correct entries received prior to the deadline indicated on the form are entered into the $25 drawing. All entries received throughout the year are entered into a year-end drawing for a grand prize of $100! Good luck! Worth Thinking About: “Isn’t it themoment of most profound doubt that gives birth to new certainties? Perhaps hopelessness is the very soil that nourishes human hope; perhaps one could never find sense in life without first experiencing its absurdity.” ~Vaclav Havel
