Crystal Chronicles - May 2019
From the Manager ’ s Desk
Hello all and welcome to May’s edition of the Crystal Waters Chronicles. I trust you all enjoyed the Easter break and associated festivities and did not over indulge by eating too much chocolate? As we are well on the way to winter and the nights are drawing in it’s getting to the time where we close the pool and carry out our yearly maintenance of the area. This year we will be closing the swimming pool at the end of May. More specifically the 31 st of May, this is due to the increased use this year and a request from the aqua aerobics ladies saying they will use it up till that point. I hope the weather stays warm enough for them to do so. Other areas on the list for winter maintenance are our water retention pit which will get a good cut and clearing of all plants growing out of the boundary walls and drainage pipes. An arbour will also be built to the West side of the community centre to provide an extra seating area for residents. We will also be giving the garden boarders a freshen up with a new coat of paint to the edging. Build wise, progress has slowed a little on the office due to an extended lead time on the handrails. This has put us back about a month, but hopefully we will be able to move into our new office by the middle of May. Site 127 continues to move forward at a pace with completion due early May and the new owners taking occupancy by mid to late May. Once that one is complete we will be looking at building on some of the spare blocks around the Village whilst we wait for the completion of the final phase before we start building there. Last month we welcomed Ken and Cheryl to the village that moved into site 170. Please introduce yourself and make them feel welcome if you see them around the village. We also had a new member of staff join us this month in the office. Dianne is our new front of desk staff member and she will be dealing with all our telephone and walk in enquiries. Her duties also include looking after your accounts, issuing your statements and quarterly invoices plus keeping on top of the invoicing for the gardening and maintenance service we run. Also, if that was not enough, Dianne will also be responsible for putting together our monthly Chronicles magazine so if you have any information, pictures, stories you would like printed in the magazine, please come and talk to Dianne or give her a call, she will be happy to help. Please remember Dianne’s role here at Crystal Waters is very diverse and there is a lot to learn, especially names of residents, so please introduce yourself when you come into the office or you talk to her over the phone, and be patient should things take a little longer than expected. I’m confident Dianne will get up to speed but with every new role you take on it takes a bit of time.
I will finish this month’s report with a quote from the author Fennel Hudson: “May, more than any other month of the year, wants us to feel most alive.”
