IncaTrail to Machu Picchu THE ULTIMATE HIKING ADVENTURE TO A LEGENDARY LOST CITY

Hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu the WT way, with spectacular campsites (two of the four are exclusive to our groups) topped off by an overnight at the acclaimed Sanctuary Lodge, just

or far behind us each day—our trip members often comment on the magic of having the Inca Trail to themselves! Days 7-9 Machu Picchu / Cusco Phuyupatamarka (“Town in the Clouds”) and elegant Wiñay Wayna (“Forever Young”) are the last major Inca sites on our trail. Hiking up to Intipunku, the “Gate of the Sun,” the original entrance to Machu Picchu, we see the dazzling lost city revealed below us and are joined by our specialist guide to explore it. We also have the option to hike up Huayna Picchu, the striking peak above the ruins. Our overnight at the Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge, the only hotel right at the ruins, allows us unparalleled access to Machu Picchu and a fantastic sunset view. Return to Cusco on Day 8 and depart on Day 9. EXTEND YOUR ADVENTURE • Extra night at Machu Picchu • Amazon rainforest lodge • Mystical Lake Titicaca • Colonial Arequipa, Colca Canyon

Days 1-2 Cusco / Pisac / Urubamba Valley In Cusco, the Incas’ imperial city, we begin to understand the power of the Incas as we explore Saqsayhuaman, the fortress overlooking the city. In the Incas’ Sacred Valley, we climb up through the terraces of the monumental citadel at Pisac, the Incas’ largest fortress-city complex, to see its fascinating stonework. Days 3-6 Inca Trail We explore Ollantaytambo, where the rebel Inca Manco held off Pizarro and his men in 1536, then begin our hike across the ancient royal highway to Machu Picchu. Our special five- day route provides shorter hiking days and optimum acclimatization. On the first two nights, we stay at our own private campsites with full amenities—one even has a sauna! Our on-the-trail cuisine is unmatched, and our well-paced hiking days give you plenty of time to explore archaeological sites along the route. And, importantly, we time our daily hiking schedule so that the majority of other hikers are either far ahead

steps from Machu Picchu. With five full days on the trail (other companies rush it in four), you’ll enjoy well-paced hiking days, fewer hikers, and fascinating Inca sites that others miss. Superb Trip Leaders bring the Inca world to life for you, and
