Simms Park Summer Concert Series Continues Till the End of August
This past summer parts of the Courtenay Airpark were treated with solarization to destroy weeds and the weed seed bed in the soil. This is a process of using the sun’s energy to destroy unwanted plants without the use of herbicides. Polyethylene was applied to the areas and removed after about one month. In the winter these areas will be planted with native plants including camas bulbs, Hookers onion and Oregon sunshine. This is part of continuing work done by Comox Valley Nature and the City of Courtenay to restore and maintain the Courtenay Airpark. Solarization Project at Courtenay Airpark
