NETTERS ON THE MOVE Returning lettermen, top freshmen re cruits, and a new inspiring coach give USD, this season, the strongest tennis team in the history of the school. Junior, Mike Taylor, playing his best tennis, returns to take the number one position for the third straight year. Los Angeles left hander, Brian Thompson, along with Bythe ace, Oscar Rodriguez, will supply the team with plenty of steady depth. Bob Coda, after suffering severe knee injuries last year, plans to return this season. Other returnees includeTim Doyle and Greg Tolton. With such a hard working and well known coach as Curt Spanis, recruits have arrived from coast to caost to try out for a position on the USD squad. From the east coast are junior transfer Mike Sweetzer and freshman Bob Nagel. However, California seems to have supplied most of the talent. Mike Mc- Culloch, member of the CIF Championship squad from University High School proves to be a sensation. He seems to have the ability to aid Taylor in his leadership role. Other top notch recruits from California are Steve Baker from the well-known tennis mill, Redlands High School, and John Lopez from runner-up CIF Champions, Palo Verde High School. Even though the team shows to be the best in the school's history, this year's schedule also proves to be in the same rating. USD will be facing, for the first time, such op ponents as the University of Nevada, Cal Lutheran, and UCSD.

With optomistic eyes, rookie coach Curt Spanis gazes into the future in hopes of rewriting Torero tennis records.
