Sound Bite The Evolution of Employee Dynamics: Supervisors: To help your employees become more comfortable and successful in their roles have a STAY INTERVIEW. This is not a performance discussion but a “get to know you and your goals” discussion. 1. Talk to all of your team members one-on-one frequently in an environment that each person finds comfortable and encourage them to speak freely. CHALLENGE: ASK STAFF IF THERE ARE ANY PROCESSES THEY CAN IMPROVE? 2. Learn each employee’s concerns and provide necessary support. 3. Give credit in team emails to people who may be reluctant to tout their accomplishments. 4. In meetings, publicly acknowledge an accomplishment or contribution of those who aren’t inclined to do so themselves.

Wellness Message from Shana Hansen Healthy Employees = Healthy Agency Recently MCCB earned a “2017 Mississippi Recognized Healthy Employer” distinction from the State Employee Wellness Program through the MS State Department of Health. This distinction was awarded as a result of MCCB’s commitment to creating a culture of health and enhancing the health of employees at work. MCCB will receive a certificate denoting this distinction in the near future. In other exciting news! MCCB has been awarded a Blue Cross Blue Shield grant in the amount of $300,700. This grant is called the “Community Challenge for Change (C3) grant.” This will allow MCCB to house a fitness center onsite for use by all campus employees. MCCB is very excited to be given this opportunity. Also, MCCB recently applied for the “Mississippi’s Healthiest Workplace Awards”. I just want to thank the Professional Development Team for offering so many health and wellness sessions this year. As a result, I was able to include all related professional developments in the award application. What’s Your Story? Would you like to tell your story? We would love to hear it!
