Manager may authorize overtime pay at 1 Y:z times the regular hourly rate for each hour of overtime work.

8.2 Exempt employees pay grade 36 and above in the General Pay Plan: No overtime payments will be made, however, Department Heads may authorize compensatory time off on an hour-for-hour basis when job demands require excessive work schedules up to a maximum of 70 hours. During a declared state of emergency, the City Manager may authorize overtime pay for designated employees at the employee's regular rate for each hour of overtime work.

9.0 PROCEDURES FOR FIRE AND POLICE PERSONNEL OPERATING ON WORK CYCLES GREATER THAN SEVEN DAYS

9.1 Overtime compensation for Fire Department personnel working on a 27-day work cycle shall be determined as follows:

9.1.1 Non-Exempt Employees: Only work hours in excess of 204 per 27-day work cycle shall constitute overtime work for non-exempt Fire personnel. Earned overtime will be paid out with the regular biweekly payroll which includes the last day of that work cycle. 9.1.2 Exempt Employees: No overtime compensation will be paid or compensatory time off provided to exempt Fire Department employees. When job demands require excessive overtime work by exempt employees, the Fire Chief or his or her designee may authorize compensatory time off on an hour-for-hour basis up to the 70-hour total allowed by this policy. During a declared state of emergency, the City Manager may authorize overtime pay at straight time rates for designated exempt employees on an hour-for-hour basis for each hour of overtime work. 9.2.1 Non-Exempt Employees: Only work hours in excess of 171 per 28-day work cycle shall constitute overtime work for non-exempt Police personnel. Work hours between 168 and 171 shall constitute unscheduled work. Earned overtime will be paid out with the regular bi-weekly payroll which includes the last day of that work cycle. 9.2.2 Exempt Employees: Exempt employees holding the rank of Police Sergeant, grade PG, will normally be compensated by compensatory time on an hour-for-hour basis. Overtime pay at straight time rates may be authorized for these employees when extreme circumstances make it Overtime compensation for Police Department personnel working on a 28-day work cycle shall be determined as follows:
