OVERTIME PAY

impractical to grant time off. During a declared state of emergency, the City Manager may authorize overtime pay for these employees at 1Y2 times the regular hourly rate for each hour of overtime work. No overtime payments will be made to employees holding exempt sworn Police positions above the rank of Police Sergeant. However, the Police Chief or his or her designee may authorize compensatory time off on a hour-for hour basis when job demands require excessive overtime work up to the 70-hour total allowed by this policy. During a declared state of emergency, the City Manager may authorize overtime pay at straight time rates on an hour-for-hour basis for each hour of overtime work for designated employees. 9.2.3 Police work for court duty during off-duty hours will be compensated at time and one-half only when this results in more than 171 work hours per 28-day cycle. 10.1 Employees who seek to obtain a second City job with responsibilities similar to their current full-time position must obtain the approval of the Personnel Director before accepting the position. 10.2 Time worked by an employee in a second position on an occasional or sporadic basis which is unrelated to the employee's normal job responsibilities will not count toward the employee's eligibility for compensatory time or overtime pay. 11.0 TIME RECORDS

11.1 In accordance with this policy, complete and accurate time records must be maintained on all employees. For non-exempt employees, those records include:

(1) Total hours worked, starting and ending times, and meal periods each day.

(2) Total number of hours worked each work week or work cycle.

(3) Total number of hours of compensatory time earned each work week or work cycle.

(4) Total number of hours of compensatory time used each work week or work cycle.

(5) Hours of compensatory time paid out in cash, if any such payments are made.
