your ticket packages to this world-class event. We are the envy of every club in the region because of our relationship with the PGA Tour and everyone should be part of the fun. Our club leadership promises not to take our eye off the goal of balanced budget/fiscal responsibility and striving for the one thing that will assure our success as a club...membership growth. The investment that each of us make in our club when paying our monthly dues can be best protected in two ways, First... USE YOUR CLUB! Make it a regular stop for dining, merchandise, social events and workouts as well as golf, tennis and swimming. Make it a part of your social plans. Bring your friends, or meet your Greystone friends as often as you can. Second... help grow our membership. New members are the fuel that will help this club reach new heights. If you want to see Greystone become THE premier club we all want, invite your friends and neighbors to your favorite activity, and recommend them to our membership office. We are at our finest and healthiest ever as a club, now let’s take advantage of our momentum. It is impossible for a club like ours to grow and improve without the selfless efforts of our member volunteers. We rely on them to advise us about finance, membership marketing, golf, sports and social, and member engagement. I want to thank ALL of those committee members who gave their time and input to make Greystone great. We need more of you to become involved, so please consider volunteering when the opportunity comes your way. Lastly, I want to thank Lane Milam for his leadership and dedication as our 2018 President. The amount of time and attention he gave Greystone can never be repaid, but we are grateful for all he has done to propel our club to such an enviable status. I’d like to personally thank him for guiding me as I’ve watched him navigate some very tricky obstacles all while managing his own hectic life. A huge thanks goes to his wife, Ginger for her amazing fortitude during a difficult year. I hope you will all join me at the President’s

Dear Members, Happy New Year to all of you! This is an extraordinary time for us as members of this beautiful club and I’m looking forward to spending time at Greystone with as many of you as possible in 2019. There’s a sense of anticipation for this upcoming year at our club with our golf courses in the best shape ever, our improved pool facilities, growth in our tennis and pickle ball programs and our Cellar 91 dining experience that has become a regular stop for hundreds of you. With winter upon us we have limited days when we can enjoy the things we love to do outside, so I encourage everyone to get in shape (or stay in shape) by using one of the finest fitness centers around. We’ve just closed out our first-ever balanced budget year thanks to some hard work by David Porter, his department heads and your Board of Directors who kept tight hold of the reigns throughout the year. Our members played a critical role in the success too. This was no small feat, but it allows us to enter the new year with confidence and some great upgrades for you. Work is about to begin on the remodel of our entrance, foyer and the upper dining and trophy rooms. We’ll have a fresh and stately look that will make a great first impression for us and our guests. There are many more upgrades to come that will be revealed throughout the year. The Regions Tradition contributed greatly to our financial success as well. But perhaps more valuable, it has become THE social event of the year for Greystone members, so I urge all of you to buy

Dinner tentatively scheduled for Saturday, February 23rd to honor Lane and acknowledge his dedication. I look forward to seeing you all often at our club. Matt Scalici Club President, 2019

G e n e r a l M a n a g e r ’ s M e s s a g e

Dear Members, Happy New Year! This winter at Greystone is full of exciting events and activities. Please take the opportunity to enjoy some time at the Club. Our “New Year Special” is our version of Happy Hour from 5-6:30 Wednesday through Sunday beginning Wednesday, January 2nd in Cellar 91. We will offer $2 off all cocktails, beer and wine, and all appetizers will be half price. Another great new idea we will be unveiling for 2019 are “Pop Up” Dinner Parties. These will be secretly planned with a theme and you will be notified four days prior of the day, time, location and theme. These will be held all over the property, including inside the tennis shop, around the pool, at the Performance Center, on the golf courses and several other locations. Each will be limited to 50 people and reservations will be required. Keep a look out for our first one in January. Please download our app in the app store by searching Greystone Golf and CC. This will allow you to receive push notifications for events, search the directory, view the calendar and make reservations without having to login each time. In the first quarter of 2019 we will be working on a refurbishment plan for the main floor of the Founders Clubhouse. This includes wood flooring in the main foyer event space and trophy room, new furniture, area rugs, new carpet and new chairs in the main dining room. Also, we will be installing gates to enclose the loading dock on the left side of the Founders Clubhouse and replacing the awning for the porte-cochère. Regions Tradition is just over four months away and we plan to work on several improvements to the member experience including expanding the members only area on #9, adding exciting parties, revamping the menus and working with Children’s of Alabama on a Mother’s Day gift to mothers of patients using member ticket proceeds.

Greystone University has three classes enrolled at this time. Two of them have eight weeks remaining and will graduate on Tuesday, March 5. All members are invited to help celebrate the graduates. More details will follow on location and time. The third class has about eighteen weeks left so they are just getting started. Here is a list of staff graduating in March, so you can encourage them to finish strong when you see them.
