NEWS FROM THE BRC

Spotlight on:

kyle monk HEAD OF INSIGHTS AND ANALYTICs british Retail Consortium

Tell us a bit about your role at BRC and what your team are responsible for? I head up the insight and analytics function here at the BRC, managing a team of analysts and economists who deliver reports that help tell the story of retail. We capture everything from retail turnover to search trends and use this data to build a detailed view of the industry and its performance. What have your first impressions of BRC been? The BRC is a very diverse and fast paced environment, filled with people who are passionate about their various areas of expertise. Our policy teams tackle everything from sustainability to Brexit, while our events teams deliver world class conferences and round tables, attended by the top names in retail. I feel fortunate to work in an environment with so many experts in their respective fields, who also make the time to be supportive of one another. What are your priorities for your first six months in the role? In my first six months I want to ensure the team continue to deliver on the wide variety of excellent projects and reports they work on, while exploring incremental improvements we may be able to implement. I aim to meet as many members as possible, to better understand their priorities and challenges. Finally, I hope to get a new departmental strategy approved, that includes the creation of a new dedicated insight community. Tell us an interesting fact about you? I lived in France for 7 years, and once shared a croissant with Jane Birkin. How can BRC’s insights and analytics help you in your role?
