Part of the Town of Oyster Bay Distinguished Artist Series Sympatico is a group of four like-minded musicians whose members have been playing music in the Tri-State area for four decades. Their repertoire is a mixture of popular jazz and blues, both nostalgic and current, from Nina Simone to Etta James, and Sergio Mendes to Diana Krall. 2019 LONG ISLAND READS ONE ISLAND - ONE BOOK

This year’s book is The Female Persuasion by Meg Wolitzer You can pick up a copy of this year’s book at the library. Long Island Reads is sponsored by The Nassau Library System and The Public Libraries of Suffolk County. ABOUT THE BOOK: THE FEMALE PERSUASION BY MEG WOLITZER

PORTUGUESE SWEET PASTA WITH CHEF CHARLIE WALSH Tuesday, April 23 at 7:00pm Online Registration: April 9 at 7:00pm Fee: $6.00 per person (If registering online you must pay using PayPal. To pay by check or cash, you must come into the library to register). Chef Charlie will show you how to make Aletria, the sweet pasta dish that Cory’s mom made in the Long Island Reads Book The Female Persuasion by Meg Wolitzer. He will also include two additional Portuguese dishes. Patrons will get to sample the dishes and will receive copies of the recipe to take home. Preference given to UFSD #22 residents.

PEEPS DIORAMA CONTEST - MARCH 25-APRIL 8 Peeped into any good books lately? We’re holding our annual book-themed Peeps Diorama Contest. So grab a bunch of marshmallow chicks and bunnies and start creating your masterpiece. Voting will take place between April 9-16. You may vote at the library or on our Facebook page. Winners will be announced on April 17. Good luck.

1st Place for Adults: A gift card to a local restaurant and a sweet surprise. 1st Place for Teens: A gift card to GameStop and a sweet surprise. 1st Place for Kids: A gift card to the movies and a sweet surprise. All patrons who come into the library and fill out a paper ballot will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a sweet surprise. You may only vote once a day.
