Diagnostic Assessments

CBM : Curriculum Based Measure The curriculum-based measure used to assess students’ oral reading fluency is Acadience Oral Reading Fluency Assessment (ORF). ORF is used as an initial screener to inform teachers where students are in relation to grade level benchmarks. The correlation between a student’s oral reading fluency and comprehension is .91, making oral reading fluency a strong predictor of reading success. Core Phonics Survey: Core Phonics Survey is the measure used for phonics decoding abilities for students sorted into group 4. (more CORE surveys are also available for additional needs)

RTI Kit Screeners: is used to measure students’ diverse reading abilities in 5 areas: Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Vocabulary, Comprehension and Fluency.

Use the following screeners based on groups sorted by CBM data Group 1

Vocabulary first, then Comprehension Fluency first, then Comprehension Phonemic Awareness first , then Phonics Phonemic Awareness first , then Phonics

Reading Street Assessments: Teachers may choose from a menu of assessments available through the Reading Street core program. These assessments support teachers in measuring students’ abilities in reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, word analysis and/or phonics skills. The Realize platform also provides haptic responses and online writing prompts for assessing students. RI: Reading Inventory RI is an adaptive assessment that measures students’ reading skills and longitudinal progress over time. At the end of 5 th grade, a students’ RI score is used to identify reading intervention needs in middle school. RISE: Readiness, Improvement, Success, Empowerment RISE ELA measures academic achievement of students based on English Language Arts Core Standards.
