Say it, Tap it, Map it, Graph it

Purpose: RF.1.2. d Segment spoken single- syllable words into their complete sequence of individual sounds (phonemes).

Purpose: RF.1. 2. c. Isolate and pronounce initial, medial and final sounds (phonemes) in spoken single- syllable words.

How :

How :

 Teacher (T) says a word aloud  Student (S) repeats the word aloud  S orally segments the onset and the rime separately, touching the square for the onset and the rectangle for the rime.  Oncesegmented , student runs their finger underthe shapes s they orally blend the onset-rime, saying the whole word Correction Procedure: My turn: Repeat the sounds and word? Your turn. Repeat the sounds and have the students say the word? BACK UP 2

 Teacher : (T) “You’re going to practice blending individual sounds to make words. I’ll tap a cube as I say each sound in the word, then when I slide my finger above the cubes you’ll say the whole word.  T : “I’ll model for you how to blend the sounds I say into a word. I’ll model 2 words. My Turn .”  T : “I’ll say the sounds in a word. When I signal, you say the word. Your turn .
