Phoneme Segmenting Exercise

Purpose: RF.1.2. c. Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in three- phoneme (CVC) words. RF.1.2. d. Segment spoken single-syllable words into their complete sequence of individual sounds (phonemes).  T reads the word aloud  S repeats the word aloud  S segments each individual speech sound in the word, moving a chip as they each sound  Once fully segmented, S runs their finger How:

Purpose: RF.1.2. d Segment spoken single- syllable words into their complete sequence of individual sounds (phonemes). How:  “Net, here are the sounds in net: /n/ /e/ /t/ net.”  “Pan, here are the sounds in pan: /p/ /a/ /n/ pan.”  “I’ll say each word. Each time I hold up a fin g er, you say the sound. Your turn .

under the chips as they orally blend the sounds, saying the whole word.
