Fire - Escape Routes (Floors 1, 2 & 3- Perimeter Core Escape Routes Cores 1,2,3,4)

Following discovery of a fire or a suspected fire: • Activate the fire alarm to commence an evacuation of the building, this is done by breaking the glass on the alarm point by any fire exit on the floor. • If a decision to use a fire extinguisher is made then the fire alarm should still be activated. • The building security staff will call the fire brigade. • Do not use the lifts. • Leave the building by the nearest emergency exit route. • Follow the instructions of the fire wardens. • Go to the assembly point. • Await further instructions. • Do not re-enter the building unless advised to do so. If you detect smoke or the odour of smoke anywhere in the building you should: • Advise facilities (ext 2134) or reception (ext. O) that you have detected smoke. • Whilst it is safe to do so stay in the area the suspect smoke was detected and assist in advising exact area to facilities or the building security team. • If in any doubt, activate the fire alarm to commence an evacuation of the building, this is done by pressing firmly the centre of the break glass alarm point by the exit from the floor.
