Sparta Township Emergency Preparedness Structure The STEP Steering Committee: Sets , coordinates, and maintains the overall strategy & objectives associated with civilian emergency response and preparedness.
The CERT (Community Emergency Response Team): Civilian responders who are trained (according to FEMA guidelines) to react and report in the event of an emergency.
The Public Safety Committee: Responsible to evaluate, coordinate and implement pro-active communication & education surrounding emergency avoidance and preparedness.
STEP Mission Statement: The Sparta Township Emergency Preparedness Team coordinates effective disaster planning, response and recovery efforts in support of (and at the direction of) the Sparta OEM (Office of Emergency Management). Through planning, training and exercising we prepare ourselves, our citizens and our response personnel to minimize the loss of lives and property.
