Practice the Concept: Select cell C5 , type the first sales rep’s first initial and a period and press [Ctrl+Enter] . Then press [Ctrl+E] to Flash Fill the remaining first initials in the column.

S AVING A N EW W ORKBOOK  D ISCUSSION After creating a new workbook, you can save it to disk so that you can retrieve it at another time. A file name can consist of multiple words (up to 255 characters) and should be descriptive enough for you to recognize the contents. The following characters cannot be used in file names: forward slash ( / ), backslash ( \ ), greater than symbol ( > ), less than symbol ( < ), asterisk ( * ), quotation marks ( “, ” ), question marks ( ? ), pipe symbol ( | ), colon ( : ), or semicolon ( ; ).Recommended best practice is to only use letters, digits, spaces, underscore (_), and hyphen (-). Excel automatically assigns the .xlsx extension when you save a file for the first time.

In all Office 2016 applications, the Save As and Save options are located under the File tab. When you are ready to save the workbook, click the File tab then from the left menu select Save As .
