NOTE Be careful when selecting ranges that begin with the current Active Cell . There are three different mouse pointers associated with the Active Cell , depending on which part of the cell you point to. To select ranges, use the white cross pointer that appears when you point to the middle of the Active Cell , rather than its edges.
P ROCEDURES
1. With the mouse pointer displaying as a white cross , pointer drag from the first cell in the range to the last. 2. Release the mouse button. 3. To quickly select large ranges, select the cell at the top-left of the desired range. 4. Scroll the worksheet using the scroll bars until the cell at the bottom-right of the desired range is visible. 5. Press the [Shift] key and select the cell at the bottom-right of the desired range.
S TEP - BY -S TEP From the Student Data directory, open SALES3.XLSX . Select a range using the mouse.

1. With the mouse pointer displaying as a white cross, drag from the first cell in the range to the last. The range is highlighted as you drag.
Use the white cross pointer to select cells A5 to cell C8
2. Release the mouse button. The range is selected.

3. To quickly select large ranges, select the cell at the top-left of the desired range. The selected cell becomes the Active Cell .
