The communication technologies and their increasingly performing tools, profusely advertized, were entering everyone’s daily intimacy, settling in, taking over. The community life was evidently altered by it – can one truly say “improved” – and most residents soon became trained in using an electronic mail so as to “simplify” and facilitate the growing number of tasks and actions which until then had constituted the binding and the very ground of shared and interactive progress = it was no longer indispensable to address physically one another since one could do so without moving or even showing oneself or any apparent direct effect or consequence. It was even becoming possible to give one’s opinion or vote for or against a decision without leaving one’s cocoon of well-equipped comfort.

Simultaneously, this delegation via interposed technology of individual responsibility engendered other sorts and forms of cleverness, adroitness, skill, cunning and excellence in the handling and manipulation of information which increased temptations and, proportionally, distrust. Another way or mode of thinking, assessing, evaluating, forecasting and organizing now developed, with its own virtues and vices, its appeals and its forays but, too, its treachery and deceptions – on all levels of collective terrestrial life.

A state of consciousness that inevitably reflected in Her town.
