The Sojourner’s Quest Don L. Davis

Sojourning as pilgrims on a quest to see the Great King To share the same core, the same hope, the same dream

Walking shoulder-to-shoulder, every burden we bear With patient conviction, with warmth and great care

In friendship with Christ, our Glory and Crown That in Him alone our real joy would be found

To see with new eyes ev’ry single soul’s worth To cherish the least of these above all else on earth

To burn with deep longing that His praises might flow And through our sweet unity His beauty might show

Yes, this is our goal, our glory, our aim That Christ might be seen on this earth once again

That His kingdom and glory would be powerfully known That more of His likeness through us might be shown

That for the sake of our friends we would lay down our lives That His fruit might be borne, and His grace multiplied

That by sharing in common our lights would so shine That the world might be drawn to Him, one heart at a time

And every broken vessel, however humble or meek Might taste our Lord’s mercies, be healed, and set free

We count now as dung all this world’s sweetest pleasures We press toward the goal for the Kingdom’s true treasures

We invite you to join us in our glorious quest To sojourn with us gladly to His coronation, as guest

We give all that we are and we have to one thing – To dine soon at His banquet before Christ the Great King
