How to Run Your SIAFU Network Chapter: Officers and Procedures

The SIAFU Chapter: The Basic Building Block of the SIAFU Network The basic element in the SIAFU Network is the SIAFU Chapter. SIAFU Chapters are related to one another as siblings, as brothers and sisters. In other words, every SIAFU Chapter runs and operates individually under its own vision and authority as permitted by its pastoral and/or spiritual authority. Each SIAFU Chapter, therefore, is autonomous and free to operate and function under the authority of its local pastor and/or spiritual director. Regionally or locally, SIAFU Chapters may decide to gather and collaborate for the sake of worship, fellowship, service, and mission in their locale or city. Currently The Urban Ministry Institute , a ministry of World Impact, Inc. , resources and coordinates the national communi- cation on behalf of the SIAFU Network. TUMI processes and approves the SIAFU Chapter applications, creates resources to facilitate and empower the individual SIAFU Chapters, including coordinating the SIAFU Network website, forum, and newsletters. Its primary function is to facilitate communication and contact among the sites and do all it can to strengthen and empower Chapters where they meet. Part of the way to train leadership in your Chapter is to assign roles to different folk within your Chapter where they can lead, and then help them to know how to fulfill that role. A SIAFU Chapter operates with a Leadership Council consisting of four Officer roles: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The Council also has two Support roles related to hosting Chapter meetings and running service projects: Host/Hostess and Service Project Coordinator, respectively.
