AOAC INTERNATIONAL EMERGING TOPICS ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION

Selen Stromgren, Ph.D. Director, Office of Research Coordination and Evaluation Office of Regulatory Science, Office of Regulatory Affairs U.S. Food and Drug Administration Selen Stromgren joined FDA in late 2008. She started her FDA career as a regulatory chemist with Office of Regulatory Affairs’ (ORA) Division of Field Science. In 2012 her division was re‐structured into ORA’s Office of Regulatory Science where Selen still remains as an Associate Director providing scientific leadership to ORA’s national laboratories.

Prior to coming to FDA, Selen was a senior scientist at a biotechnology company for seven years where she worked on developing biomarker assays using the company’s patented electrochemiluminescence detection platform. Selen graduated Summa Cum Laude from Knox College with a double B. A. degree in chemistry and mathematics. Selen holds a PhD in physical chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Selen is a co-inventee on two US patents, is a lead author on five scientific publications, and a co-author of a book on probability and statistics. Selen.Stromgren@fda.hhs.gov | 301.796.6550
