News from Chebeague Housing

Maine State Housing has made available funds specifically for island communities, recognizingtheuniqueneedsof islanders. The community survey, which over 125 people completed over the spring and summer, rated rental units as the highest priority for developing housing on the island. This directionwill be the first focus for Chebeague Housing. Chebeague Housing is working with Maine State Housing and the Genesis Fund for options

and resources to build rental units on the island. Thank you to the Island Institute for providing valuable guidance and best practices for Chebeague and other island communities. Stay tuned for the release of a website for Chebeague Housing, which will provide more information and ways to get involved.
