1 LASCELLS DYNAMO A bicycle dynamo mounted on a strong acrylic base with rubber rimmed drive wheel. The dynamo can power torch bulbs and a bulb and holder is fitted to the base to provide a compact and self- contained unit for demonstrating mechanical to electrical to light energy transfers. Cat No. Description Price Per HEC-085-100 Dynamo 76.80 ea. 2 ALTERNATOR/DYNAMO DEMONSTRATION This shows the conversion of mechanical energy into electrical energy and the principle of simple AC and DC dynamos. Capable of generating both AC and DC simultaneously as indicated by the glowing of bulbs present on the base. There is a split ring commutator on one side for DC output and slip ring commutator on the other side for AC output, both of which are available through 4mm sockets via a selectable switch. A magnetic field provided by a permanent magnet on top of curved strips. The unit is hand driven. Cat No. Description Price Per HEC-050-100 Alternator/Dynamo Demonstration 61.65 ea. 3 DYNAMO DEMONSTRATION Electrical output is via a pair of 4mm sockets and a light emitting diode is provided as simple output indicator. The model can also be used as a motor operating on a 6-8V DC supply. Cat No. Description Price Per HEC-100-100 Dynamo Demonstration 49.65 ea. 4 ELECTRIC MOTOR DEMONSTRATION A simple model of a DC electric motor, having a 2-pole armature wound with enameled copper wire on an insulated plastic bobbin. The magnetic field is provided by a removable permanent magnet. The model is completely open with all components easily identifiable and clearly observable. A disc-type commutator is incorporated and external connection to the phosphorus bronze bushes is by means of a pair of 4mm colour coded sockets. The motor operates on 6-8 volts DC. Cat No. Description Price Per HEC-150-100 Demonstration Electric Motor 45.78 ea. 5 LASCELLS DEMONSTRATION ELECTRIC MOTOR The Demonstration Electric Motor is a ready-built, fully functional unit showing all the essential features of a simple motor as taught in the KS4 syllabus. A single rectangular coil rotates in a linear magnetic field with a simple commutator and brush arrangement. Field directions can be reversed by reversing the ferrite slab magnets and current direction can be reversed by reversing the leads. Requires DC voltage in the range 1.5V - 6V. Cat No. Description Price Per HEC-535-110 Demonstration Electric Motor 49.35 ea. 6 MOTOR/GENERATOR This unit can be used for a variety of purposes to illustrate energy transfers: it can be used to lift a mass or stretch a bungee cord, and to generate an electrical current when the mass falls again or the bungee cord is released. It can also be turned by hand to generate a current. The motor/generator (6 Ð 9 V) is mounted on a robust metal base, and the gearing of the unit and the sizes of the pulleys have been chosen to enable a variety of qualitative and quantitative experiments to be undertaken. Cat No. Description Price Per HEC-200-100 Motor/Generator 63.56 ea.
