990 1948 (11 Aug.) An air mail Gold Yuan cover from Shanghai to Zurich, Switzerland. Tied by bilingual Postage Meter $5550,000. Showing the scarce ‘Postage Paid/No.4/U2’ meter mark in red. At left edge, handstamped ‘40377*18.VIII.48.3-4’ arrival marking in black straight. The international airmail postage rate was $150,000 for surface and $400,000 for airmail. This rate was only used 20 days from 1st Aug. to 20th Aug. 1948. Center folded, very rare. Photo HK$ 22,000 - 28,000

An air mail Gold Yuan postage due cover from Ceylon to Shanghai, bearing Ceylon KGVI pictorial 25c and 50c, tied by ‘OOLOMBO’ cds, alongside ‘FTS’ in black circle, plus bearing the ROC surcharged on 2nd London print postage due stamps $30,000 on $1,000 in large block of 40 (10 x 4) which is larger than the original cover, thus, those stamps were franked on both sides, total rate $1,200,000, tied by bilingual ‘SHANGHAI/24.8.48’ cds. 992 1948 (3 Nov.) A Gold Yuan double reg. air mail cover from Kwangsi to Nanking, bearing 2nd Dah Yeh surch. On SYS $15,000 on 50c olive SYS Central Trust print block of 8 and 10 tied by bilingual ‘KWEILIN’ dotted rim cds. With small part reg. receipt on back, fine. Photo HK$ 600 - 700 993 1948 (Nov.) Two Gold Yuan domestic printed matter rate covers. One with Shanghai Dah Yeh surcharged 1/2c on $500, tied by faint char. ‘PANJIAQIAO’ ( 潘家橋 ) cds. Another with Shanghai Union Press surcharged 1/2c on $500, tied by char. ‘XIASHI’ ( 硤石 ) cds. The Gold Yuan printer matter rate 5c only effective from 19th Nov. to 31st Dec. 1948, afterwards it was converted from 5c to 25c. Photo HK$ 1,000 - 1,400
