Transport and storage solution Dhatec Line Pipe Logistic Solutions has launched a new range of pipe carriers.

Extra stability is achieved by increasing the support surface; tilting of the Pipe Carrier is impossible and coating layers are better protected because the weight of the pipe is divided over a larger surface. The distance between the pipe layers is also increased for easier loading with a forklift. Dhatec’s new Pipe Carrier is manufactured from recycled UV stabilised black polyethylene. This material is extremely durable but soft, making the Pipe Carrier safe for coated pipes. In the past Dhatec has used the material for products such as System88 and Pipe Stop. A carrier set of six pieces can easily handle a heavy load up to 33 metric tons. An ingenious design reduces the weight per carrier to approximately 12kg.

In addition to the existing Pipe Carrier range, in which each pipe diameter needs its own carrier size, the flexible new design lowers the number of Pipe Carriers required: just five carrier types cover a pipe diameter range from 144.3 to 508mm (4" to 20"). Two new carriers beside each other have a total width of 2,450mm, which makes them suitable for flat bed trailer transport.

After two years of engineering and testing, Dhatec’s engineers succeeded in developing a new generation of carriers for tubes and pipes. The carriers improve transport and storage operations for small diameter pipes up to 20".

Vacuum lifters Acimex has supplied two Starflift 1000 vacuum devices to transport, unload and handle steel pipes destined for the assembly of a 191km gas connection in the north-east of France, currently under construction by the French gas transportation network GRTgaz, a subsidiary of GDF Suez. Both Starlift 1000 vacuum lifters will be fitted on shovels to handle 900 to 1,200mm

diameter tubes on storage yards, three lines of 500m in length and 4m in height.
