In 1982, The following communities: Ganado, Steamboat, Klagetoh, Cornfields, and Kinlichee wanted to establish a Fire District through the State of Arizona. It was taken to the voters within the communities and was passed to become a Fire District. Therefore name “Ganado Fire District” covering the communities of Ganado, Burnside, Steamboat, Toyei, Beshbeto, Klagetoh, Navajo Station, Cornfields, Kinlichee, and Woodsprings communities and coverage of approximately 1,000 square miles.

Services Provided by Ganado Fire District

The Ganado Fire District’s primary role is to provide fire protection, fire prevention, fire suppression, search & rescue, emergency medical services, and 24-hour emergency dispatching. The goal of the fire district is to “protect life and property”. Additional services that Ganado Fire District provide but not limited to are:

• Rope & High Angle Rescue • Confined Space Rescue

• Ice Rescue • Swift water rescue
