USD Baseball 1996

Location The University of San Di- ego is an indepe ndent Catho lic in stituti o n o f higher education. Founded in 1949, USD is located on 180 acres overlooking Mission Bay, San Diego Harb or and the Pac ific Ocean. The campus is located just ten minutes from downtown San Diego. Student Life Student ac tiv ities in- cl ude cultu ral eve nts, dances, boat crui ses , beach parties, BBQ's, concerts, comedy nights, symp os ia and muc h more. Students partici- pate in a wide range of volunteer projects such as adult literacy tutori ng, senior citizen outreach, and house building in Tijuana. Over two-thirds of the USD community partakes in intramural sports.

Academics USD enrolls more than 6,400 students who have a choice of more than 50 undergraduate and graduate degree pro- grams. The University in- cludes the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Schools of Bus in ess Admini stra tio n , Education, Law and Nursi ng. Class size generally averages between 10-30 students with the student to teacher ratio being 18: I. Over 96% of USD's full- time faculty hold doctorates.

The Campus

The USD campus is one of the most architecturall y unique institutions found in the country, featuring 18 major bu ild- ings designed in an ornamental 16th century Spani sh Re- naissance style. In the last decade USD has completed eight major construction and expansion projects. In 1990, the renovated Katherine M. and George M . Pardee Jr. Legal Research Center opened, a faci lity double the size of the fo rmer law library that offers the latest in information technology. Athletics San Diego is a member of the West Coast Conference and competes in 16 intercollegiate sports on the NCAA Divi- sion I level. Men's sports include: baseball, basketball, crew, cross country , golf, foo tball , soccer and tenni s. Women's sports include: basketball, crew, cross country, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis and vo lleyball.
