2019 Federal Quota Registration of Blind Students packets due January 25 Last month, the Assistive Technology & Accessible Educational Materials (AT&AEM) Center at OCALI (formerly the Ohio Center for Autismand Low Incidence) sent through secure email the 2019 Federal Quota Registration of Blind Students packets. OCALI sent the registration on behalf of the Ohio Department of Education’s Office for Exceptional Children, asking districts to register every enrolled, legally blind student. Registration should include all eligible preschool, homebound, home-schooled, and adult students. The registrations help to generate additional federal dollars to support programming for Ohio’s visually impaired students. Calling all Military Veteran Superintendents Ohio has received a 1 million dollar, 5-year grant to help military veterans in Ohio enter the teaching profession. Veterans bring unique skill sets including goal oriented, team focused employees. The Troops to Teachers (TTT) advisory committee is searching for all superintendents that have military service to be points of contacts for Veterans Services Offices and returning veterans. As a POC you would be available to connect with these veterans and give them insight into the teaching profession in a language that they can understand. If the veteran decides they would like further information then the POC would refer them to Lt. Col David H. Schklar, TTT program coordinator. This is a chance for veterans to again serve and help our brothers and sisters to find another way to serve our communities through teaching. If you are interested in being part of this mission email Maj. Mike Hebenthal (USAF Retired) Superintendent Centerburg Local at mike.hebenthal@ centerburgschools.org or Lt Col. David Schklar (USA, Retired) at David.Schklar@edcuation. ohio.gov
