697 1948 (11 Aug.) An air mail Gold Yuan postage due cover from Ceylon to Shanghai, bearing Ceylon KGVI pictorial 25c and 50c, tied by ‘COLOMBO’ cds, alongside ‘FTS’ in black circle, plus ROC surcharged on 2nd London print postage due stamps $30,000 on $1,000 in large block of 40 (10 x 4) which is larger than the original cover, thus, those stamps were franked on both sides, total rate $1,200,000, tied by bilingual ‘SHANGHAI/24.8.48’ cds. The Gold Yuan period started on 20th Aug. 1948, rare. Photo HK$ 7,000 - 8,000 698 1948 (12 Mar.) An air mail mixed franking Gold Yuan cover to Rhode Island, USA, bearing Gold Yuan Sien Dai Book CO., surcharged on Revenue $50 on 50c, SYS Shanghai Dah Tung print $200 strip of 4 and Gold Yuan surcharged on Parcel post $1,000 on $10,000. Total rate $1,650, this rate was only effective from 12th March to 15th March 1948 3 days only, and Parcel Post on cover is unusual. Photo HK$ 1,500 - 2,000 699 1948 (15 Dec.) Bearing Gold Yuan surcharged on various SYS issues, $1 on 40c x 3 on Paiching print, $5 on $2 on Chungking Chung Hwa print and $5 on 17c on HK print Martyrs, tied by bilingual ‘SHANGHAI’ cds. A CNC and Gold Yuan mixed frankings cover to Nottingham, England, on reverse bearing SYS 3rd Shanghai Dah Tung print $500,000 block of 8 and Gold Yuan Shanghai Union Press surcharged 1/2c on 500 strip of 4, both tied by bilingual ‘WUCHANG’ cds.
