Labelling - common problems

• Similarity in packaging: judicious use of colour should be employed to differentiate active ingredient and strength)

• Poor use of colour: particular problems with text presented in pastel shades

• Common name not given due prominence: must be at least as large as any claims made on the front of pack (OTC medicines)

Packaging similarity

Packs are often stored ‘end on’ in pharmacy and it is recommended that colour differentiation is extended to the side and end panels of packs, to aid accurate identification.
