Sector Outlook This sector covers a range of associated jobs that provide services to businesses and homes. The industry is broad and can include such work as gardening, home help, cleaning, security, beauty, fitness, funeral care and many other services. For some roles there are no set qualifications to enter although there may be vocational qualifications available once employed. Due to its varied nature and low star t-up costs many people see this sector as a chance to star t their own business whether its car valeting, wedding planning, tattoo ar t or floristry services. The market is growing as the affluent look to outsource many domestic tasks. In the US large retailers such as Amazon are entering the lucrative market looking to vet and list providers to customers for commission and the UK may well follow suit. The sector needs individuals with good customer service skills, practical ability and an outgoing personality. To star t your own business you will need fur ther skills such as sales ability, resilience, ambition, and organisational skills to be successful. Jobs can be found through personal networks, internet search engines, papers and on specialist recruitment sites.
