UL Fire-Stop System UL listed three-hour fire-stop barrier is now available for use with GE Busway systems. The system is listed in the UL Fire Resistance Directory under section 3L73—Through-Penetration Fire-Stop Sys- tems. In addition to the three-hour test, the system has met the criteria of ASTM E814 (UL1479). The contractor installs a mineral wool batt (4 PCF Nominal) as shown below, on-site during the busway installation process. For riser applications, the system is used in combination with a stan- dard GE spring hanger and floor flange. For horizontal applica- tions, the system is used in combination with two wall flanges (one per side).

You have two options for ordering the fire-stop material: 1. With initial busway purchase. Use the product numbers listed above and the fire-stop material will be shipped in a specially marked box directly to the job site with the busway. 2. Through 1-800-GE 1-STOP or an authorized GE Silicones Distributor. Recommended for fill-in (if needed) after initial purchase. This information is provided as a guideline for typical fire-stop systems. If you have an annulus (or opening) greater than 1” beyond the busway enclosure, you will need to determine the proper amount of fire-stop material based on the illustration on this page. Quantities are based on application of recommended amount of material; more may be required if over-application occurs.
