Set your outdoor furniture... Arrange your outdoor furniture as you would your indoor furniture – essentially turning your porch or deck into a second living room. Establish a space for eating, group conversa- tion and a more intimate nook for enjoying an after dinner drink or an afternoon read.

Fresh flower arranging… Whether you take a course for fun or gather ideas from maga- zines, now is the perfect time to brush up on the art of flower arranging. Think of creative containers, mix unexpected elements and play with texture and color to give your centerpiec- es unconventional flair.

SOMEONE BY ALICE MCDERMOTT

A slender and deceptively simple work, the novel is a lyrical meditation on the Irish-American experience in Brooklyn as it traces the arc of an unexceptional life through the decades.

LECTURE SERIES

On Monday, March 2 nd , at 8:00 p.m. Josh Glazer, a vice-president of Christies, will speak about the commercial art market. It will be different than past programs and quite fascinating to all, whether or not you are an art collector.

On Tuesday, March 24 th , at 8:00 p.m. we will be visited by David Makovsky of the Washington Institute on Near East Policy. David is an American journalist, who lived in, and reported from, Israel for many years. He recently took a leave of absence from the Institute to become one of Secretary Kerry's principal deputies during the recent intense, but unsuccessful, Palestinian peace talks. He is now back at the Institute, where he is reasonably free to talk about said talks. Moreover, since the Israeli elections will occur on March 17 th , we will benefit from his insight as to the election results, as well as other matters affecting Israel. On Wednesday, April 22 nd , at 8:00 p.m . we will hear from James Jeffrey, also from the Washington Institute. He is a captivating and insightful speaker with an extraordinary resume-- Ambassador to both Turkey and Iraq and numerous high level tours in the White House and State Dept.

Foreign Films in March

Tuesday, March 3 rd at 5:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.

A 19th century tale of sin and redemption. A strong willed wife follows her soldier husband to a desolate territory. Takes place in Newfoundland. This film includes cruel machinery of human justice! The wife's face tells the entire story. Haunting but wonderful. Wednesday, March 11 th at 5:15 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. One who sends OFF. A film first reluctant to be released by the distributors in the country made but won 3 grand awards. I won't tell you anything else, just come and VIEW!!! A wonderful PLOT! Tuesday, March 17 th at 5:30 p.m. and 7:35 p.m. Once again my favorite Danish actor starring in a film where he's a former teacher who was forced to start over having overcome a tough divorce and the loss of a job. Just as things are starting a positive route his life is shattered.

Wednesday, March 25 th at 5:30 p.m. and 7:35 p.m.

A young male genius who is grades above others has his life scrolled out by his parents but with one dramatic (leap) he ends up taking control of his life. This is a MUST see 2006 Swiss film. An official selection from the Berlin Film Festival.

Refreshments are available, please be seated 5-10 minutes before Showtime.

SECURITY

Golf Cart Safety Fundamentals Just like professional baseball players who annually attend spring training to work on the fundamentals of the game (ground balls, run down drills, sliding, hitting the cutoff man); drivers of golf carts will benefit by brushing up on the fundamentals: THE FUNDAMENTALS (16 WAYS TO BE SAFE) 1. Never drive recklessly or joy ride. Drive courteously. Obey all vehicle traffic laws and rules of the road. 2. Never drive intoxicated or under the influence of any drug or narcotic. 3. Avoid distractions while operating the golf cart just as you would in an automobile. Be safe and attentive - - avoid talking, texting, or reading while driving, reaching for objects, applying makeup or eating. 4. Golf carts should be equipped with seat belts for driver and all passengers. The driver and all occupants should utilize available seatbelts anytime the vehicle is in use. 5. Only carry the number of passengers for which there are seats. 6. Drivers and all passengers should keep all body parts (arms, legs, feet) inside cart while vehicle is in motion, except when signaling a turn. 7. Do not allow anyone to ride standing in the vehicle or on the back platform of the vehicle. Do not put vehicle in motion until all passengers are safely seated inside vehicle. 8. Operate the vehicle from the driver’s side only. 9. Always use hand signals to indicate your intent to turn due to the small size and limited visibility of the turn signals on a golf cart. 10. Check blind spots before turning. When making a left hand turn, yield to the thru traffic lane and merge into that lane before turning left. Never make a left hand turn from the golf cart lane. 11. Carefully turn and look behind golf cart before backing up. 12. Avoid sharp turns at maximum speed, and drive straight up and down slopes to reduce the risk of passenger ejections and/or rollover. Avoid excessive speed, sudden starts, stops and fast turns. 13. Reduce speed due to driving conditions, especially hills or other inclines or declines, blind corners, intersections, pedestrians and inclement weather. 14. Do not leave keys in golf cart while unattended and make sure the parking brake is set. 15. Always yield to pedestrians and be cognizant of motor vehicles. 16. Use extreme caution in inclement weather. Although a golf cart may shield you from the rain, it may not protect you from a lightning strike.

PETIQUETTE FOR MAN’S BEST FRIEND

Following are some basic guidelines to take into consideration when visiting the dog park and walking your dog around the community and clubhouse facilities:

 Keep your dog leashed at all times.

 Be aware of your surroundings and what may set your dog off or excite him/her, i.e., loud noises, inclement weather, etc.

 Keep your dog under your control and in your presence at all times, never leaving your dog unattended.  Be aware of your audience - approach people or other animals with caution, asking for their permission as others may be uncomfortable around pets they do not know.  Be mindful of your dog’s temperament and demeanor - know how your dog will react to adults/children, bicyclists, other animals, vehicles, etc.

 Pick up your dog’s waste and dispose of it appropriately.

 Make sure your dog is up-to-date on his/her vaccinations.

 Be mindful of your safety as well as, your dog’s, and others.

We encourage you to walk your dog around the community and visit our Dog Park located on Frenchman’s Creek Drive.

We ask that dog owners be mindful of their dogs, their own safety and others.
