4 2 0 $ In an effort to get her life back on track, a 40-year-old divorcee and mother of two (Reese Witherspon) takes in three good looking twenty-something dudes as boarders, following a drunken one night stand with one of them. What could possibly go wrong? Her ex (Michael Sheen) deciding to pay a visit for starters... The premise might suggest another rowdy girls' comedy, but this Witherspoon star vehicle is no Bad Single Mom. Director Hallie Meyers- Shyer has learned a thing or two from mum Nancy Meyers ( Something's Gotta Give, The Intern ), delivering a rom-com as comfy as its title suggests. AC

This belated sequel to the maligned 2010 sci-fi flick Skyline thankfully avoids the problems that made its predecessor crash and burn. Set on the same night as the original film, it stars the dependable Frank Grillo as a hardened former cop who is swept up in an alien invasion of New York along with his rebellious son. Unlike the apartment-bound original, Beyond Skyline increases the pace, leapfrogging from the subways of Manhattan and the bowels of an alien ship, to the jungles of Indonesia for some Raid -style action. As crazy as it sounds, this is definitely a guilty pleasure in waiting. AC

Joel Schumacher's starry 1990 thriller is resuscitated for a new audience. If you've seen the original, you don't really need to see this. If you haven't, the story involves a group of medical students (Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Nina Dobrev and James Norton) who experiment with near death experiences for a glimpse of the afterlife, only to be haunted thereafter by ghosts from the past. Slickly directed by Niels Arden Oplev ( The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo ), the tone is more James Wan-inspired horror show this time round, and while original star Kiefer Sutherland pops up in a cameo, it's never really clear if this is a sequel or a remake. A Time Lord secret. A brain- draining sphere. Rock monsters. A trip to Cambridge for the Doctor, Romana and K-9. Originally set to close Season 17 of the original series in 1979, production on this six-part adventure – written by the great Douglas Adams and starring Tom Baker as the Doctor – was halted by a BBC strike and then abandoned, with only 50 per cent completed. Now, thanks to the efforts of the team behind the recent resurrection of The Power of the Daleks , Shada can be enjoyed in its entirety, with the remastered live-action footage combined with colour animation and recorded dialogue from the original cast. Woo Who! SH
