SPECIAL ERECTION TECHNIQUES

UNSEAMING INSTRUCTIONS

The unseaming process is a two-person operation and may begin at the eave, ridge or endlap end of the panel. Unseaming the panels with this tool should not damage the factory mastic or the panels, provided reasonable care is taken.

UNSEAMING TOOL

Before beginning, the fasteners, outside closure and any other obstructions must be removed so that the panel may lift up as it is being unseamed.

The panels are factory notched 1 1/2" on the female side and 3" on the male side. This will make it easier to get the unseaming tool between the male and female legs. It may be necessary to bend the notched portion of the female leg out to aid in this process. It is also helpful to push down on the seam to relieve the pressure of the seam engagement.

INSERTING UNSEAMING TOOL INTO SEAM

Once the unseaming tool has been inserted between the legs of the seam, slowly slide the tool along the length of the seam while another person lifts up on the panel. Keep the handle of the tool horizontal. If difficulty is encountered moving the tool, the other person may be lifting up to much on the panel. This pulls the seam tighter together. If the panel is not lifted up enough, the panel seam will snap back together as the unseaming tool moves along the seam.
