The Company believes that this measure is important to many investors in the marketplace who are interested in relative changes from period to period in common shareholders’ equity to total assets, each exclusive of changes in intangible assets. Management believes that this measure is important to many investors in the marketplace because it measures the return on common equity, exclusive of the effects of preferred stock and intangible assets on earnings and capital. • “Adjusted Diluted Earnings per Common Share” is defined as net income available to common shareholders excluding the impact of debt prepayment fees divided by diluted weighted average common shares outstanding. In our judgment, the adjustments to earnings remove the volatility that is associated with certain one-time items unrelated to our core business.
