CMSA Constitution and By-laws

Constitution of the Case Management Society of Australia and New Zealand Limited (CMSA)

Preamble

The CMSA was founded in 1996 by health service industry stakeholders and subsequently evolved into the National Peak Body representative for individuals and agencies involved in the specialist profession of Case Management as academics, consultants, educators, executives, managers, program and policy planners, practitioners and researchers throughout Australia. Today our members include individuals and agencies throughout Australia and New Zealand who are employed in case management roles (practical or theoretical) within academia, health, education, research, insurance, welfare, social and human service settings and in independent practice. CMSA is the sole representative body of Case Management in Australia and New Zealand and is the Australian & New Zealand affiliate of the Case Management Society International - a global affiliation which is linked with other Societies in Canada, Singapore, South Africa, United Kingdom and the United States of America: Case Management Society of America and National Association of Case Management. The Society aims to promote the National Standards of Practice for Case Management (3rd Revised Edition, 2013) and the National Code of Ethics for Case Management (2nd Edition, 2013) as the national minimum practice standard (benchmark) for all practitioners and agencies within Australia and New Zealand. CMSA is committed to the advancement of the national and international profile and practi ce of contemporary case management and actively supports research, systematic evaluation practices and professional training and development opportunities and is the national regulatory and registration body for Certified Case Managers™ within Australia and New Zealand. Our commitment to quality case management extends to our membership (individuals and agencies) who agree to read, understand, utilise and apply the CMSA National Standard of Practice for Case Management (3rd Revised Edition, 2013) and CMSA National Code of Ethics for Case Management (2nd Edition, 2013) within their day-to-day professional interactions with colleagues, the community, consumers and/or representatives, key stakeholders and employer. It is our belief that compliance to the same will afford our many members (individuals and agencies National & International) with the foundational platform in meeting the recognised national practice standard ("benchmark of excellence") for case managers within Australia and New Zealand and provide further endorsement as to the veracity, integrity and fidelity of the profession of case management. The CMSA acknowledges the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the Maori people as the indigenous people and traditional owners of Australia and New Zealand. The CMSA acknowledges and supports the rights of both Indigenous peoples to self determination and cultural expression.
