The Need for Excellence Promptness, Efficiency, Discipline

Remember, our emphasis on being Spirit-led during our gatherings is no excuse not to strive to be as efficient and excellent in our meetings as possible. Start and end on time, and be efficient in your use of every opportunity. Don’t allow your emphasis on being led by the Lord to make you sloppy or give you leave to make excuses for out-of-control meetings. You must conduct your meetings to be on time, both when you start and when you finish. People may forgive you for an occasional time hiccup, but, if people cannot trust your time promises, they may decide not to come at all. If you promise that the meeting will be over in an hour and fifteen minutes, honor your promise. Don’t go for two and a half hours, claiming that your sensitivity to the Lord forced your hand! A major part of gathering oversight will involve your ability to keep things moving and to help brothers and sisters to respect others by using only the time they have been given.
