Looking Forward to Fall After a busy summer season, we’re looking forward to cooler temperatures and the arrival of fall on Chebeague. Thank you to our passengers, customers, employees, and the community for another great summer—we appreciate everyone’s patience and support during our busiest time of year. With sweatshirt weather here, it’s also a great time to check out the CTC online store on our website - ctcferry.org! We have CTC sweatshirts and other gear available, so take a look and get ready for fall.

Update on Fuel Prices Fuel prices continue to rise sharply, creating a significant challenge for CTC. We spent approximately $65,000 on fuel in all of 2025, compared with nearly $80,000 already this year; at current prices, we expect that figure to approach $110,000 by year-end, and our supplier has cautioned us to prepare for prices potentially reaching $8 per gallon. In response, we are taking some basic steps to reduce fuel consumption where we can: Reduce Ferry RPMs: We will ease back on engine RPMs during regular service when conditions and the schedule allow. Lower Boiler Temperature: We will keep boiler temperatures lower until additional heat is necessary as colder weather arrives. Avoid Unnecessary Bus Trips: When we know there are no passengers arriving who need the bus, we will avoid unnecessary trips between Route One and Cousins Island. These are relatively small changes individually, but every gallon we can conserve helps offset the impact of rapidly rising fuel costs. 2027 Cousins Island Parking Applications

Off-Season Procedures start October 13th! Begining Tuesday, October 13, CTC will transition to our “off-season” procedures Boarding will begin 10 minutes prior to departure Tickets will be scanned while the ferry is underway. Office Hours change for the season

2027 Cousins Island parking applications will be mailed next month, so keep an eye on your mailbox! A digital copy will also be available at ctcferry.org Applications are due by 3:30pm on Tuesday, December 1. Applications postmarked by December 1 will also be accepted.

At the Top of the Ramp A quick reminder to help keep things moving smoothly: during boarding and unloading, please try and keep the top of the ramp clear and save hellos and goodbyes for just beyond the ramp. Also, if you are visiting the ferry but not travelling with us, please let a crew member know before departure. Our crew submits a final passanger count just before the ferry gets underway and knowing who is actually travelling helps give us an accurate count without having to recount.
