If you plan to live in the UK for the forseable future you may decide to buy, rather than rent, a property. Before you start looking at properties it is vital that you have the following in place: + A solicior to carry out the legal work involved with a purchase. + Appropriate funds. To get a standard UK mortgage you will need evidence that you have: + Lived in the UK for at least 2 years. + UK bank account. + Permanent job in the UK. + Sizeable deposit (as much as 25%). + Visa/residents permit (if applicable).
