Donna Crawford, 19, a sopho- more sociology major at the Uni ersity of San Diego College for Women, was recently ed the first football coming Queen. Previous ns were crowned in honor of basketball, since there was no football for seven years at the university. Donna is also the first Black Homecoming Queen in the his- tory of the school Donna repre- sented the Back Students Union in the competition for the titla. She won out over eight other co-eds. Donna was honored at the half-time activities in the Saturday, November 1, football game between the USD Toreros and the USD Alumni teams. She was escorted by Lee Brooks, a sophomore at the College for Men, and a member of the BSU. She was officially crowned queen at a semi- formal dance at El Cortez Hotel that evening, At the dance she was crowned and was given one dozen long-stemmed red roses as a sign of h er r eign, by the AS of USD. graduated from Pa Springs High School in 1968. She is the daughter of Mrs. Claudia Crawford of Palm Springs, California. Donna is also involved L11 sev- eral extra-curricular activities. Besides being an active mem- ber in the BSU, she is also head cheerleader, and the chairman of tne Big Sister program at USD.
