A udrey F orever Born a star, Audrey Hepburn the most beautiful actress of her time, changed the world with her inspirational quotes and gave poor children in Africa the life of their dreams. The Curtains Open On the 4th May, 1929 Audrey Hepburn the star actress was born in Brussels, Belgium. She was an only child and the childhood she lived was tough. Her parents got divorced when Audrey was a young girl. Her parents divorced when her mother discovered that Audrey’s father was a Nazi during World War II. Audrey moved to the Netherlands with her mother where she assumed it would be safe from the war, however in 1940 the Netherlands were over run and fell under Nazi occupation. Audrey was one of many who almost starved to death during the war. From a desk to the spotlight In 1935 Audrey went to boarding school in Kent, England. She studied and at the same time she learnt ballet. At the age of thirteen Audrey wanted to be a ballerina when she grew up. Spotlight glories Audrey won many prestigious awards for acting and for her international goodwill with UNICEF. She achieved the PYP learner profile and attitudes. Some of her awards that she achieved included the Academy award for Best Actress, many special Tony Awards, Oscar Awards and perhaps her most important the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. She starred in many leading movie roles such as Roman Holiday, Breakfast At Tiffany’s, The Nun’s Story and War And Peace. The Camera Stopped Rolling In 1960, Audrey had her first son Sean Ferrer. After ten years in 1970 Audrey had her second son Luca Dotti. Audrey divorced two husbands, Mel Ferrer and Andrea Dotti. Not long after, in 1988, Audrey started her international goodwill in Africa with UNICEF. Suddenly after a great life in the acting community Audrey was diagnosed with Cancer in 1992. One year later in 1993 Audrey passed away of cancer. Her son Luca founded the Audrey Hepburn Children’s Fund in 1994 in honour of his mother because of the love and dedication to the children in Africa. Audrey Hepburn who was born a star, was a star and will be known as a star forever was the woman who made poor children’s hearts sparkle! So as Audrey once quoted, “Nothing is impossible, the word itself says I’m possible.’’
