Purpose: The Canyons School District Science & Engineering Fair (CSDSEF), is a great way for students to learn and demonstrate the Science and Engineering practices through a self-selected learning experience. Procedure & Timeline: In order for participants to advance to the University of Utah Science and

------------------------------- ● Support families by breaking down the science fair into manageable pieces as detailed in the CSDSEF handbook. ● Simplify your fair as outlined in the CSDSEF Handbook. ● Determine who your science fair coordinator will be. ● Follow rules and procedures as outlined in the CSDSEF Handbook.

Engineering Fair (USEF), they must frst participate in two qualifying science fairs. Therefore, students should participate frst at a school-based fair, and then a certain number of students are selected to advance to the CSDSEF. Students who are selected as fnalists at the CSDSEF will then advance to USEF to participate. Schools who are hosting a science fair should follow the recommendations and guidelines to simplify their fair that are found in the CSDSEF Handbook. Once the Instructional Supports department knows how many schools are participating in science fair, the number of students from each fair that can advance to the district fair will be determined. These numbers will be sent to schools in December along with a packet to help families register their students for the district fair if they are advancing. The district fair is always held during the last week in January, and the regional fair is always held during the U of U spring break, which is typically in the beginning of March. In order to meet all deadlines and advance students to each level, all school fairs must be complete by January 15.
