Indemnify: An agreement to pay a sum of money or provide another party a defense or other services or payment in compensation for loss or injury. Indemnity: Protection from liabilities incurred by another’s action. Independent Contractor: A consultant hired by a school to provide services to the school, but who is not an employee of the school. Inspector of Record: A consultant retained by a school to perform inspection services on a project. Instructions to Bidders: A form instructing proposers/bidders on the appropriate format for a bid, required bid deposit if any, and timeline for bids on a project, with which the bidder must comply or the school can deem the bid nonresponsive. Insurance: Automobile Insurance: Insurance obtained by the contractor and other consultants protecting the school against claims for damages or injuries arising out of the contractor or consultant’s ownership, maintenance, or use of motor vehicles, all mobile equipment, and vehicles moving under their own power and engaged in work on a project. Builder’s “All Risk” Insurance: Insurance obtained by the contractor protecting the school against all risks, such as vandalism, theft, flood, etc., during the course of the project in an amount not less than the full cost to repair, replace, or reconstruct the work. Errors and Omissions (Professional Liability) Insurance: Insurance obtained by professional consultants protecting the school against negligent errors or omissions in their performance, design, or contract documents, resulting in defects in the building, delays to the project, or other damages. Fire Insurance: Insurance obtained by the contractor protecting the school against fire damage during the course of the project in an amount not less than the full cost to repair, replace or reconstruct the work. Liability Insurance: Insurance obtained by the contractor and other consultants protecting the school against claims of bodily injury and other damages arising from the project. Workers’ Compensation Insurance: Insurance obtained by the contractor and other consultants for all contractor’s or consultant’s employees engaged in work on a project in case of injury to the employee while performing this work.
