Part III: Physical Stresses that Activate the FAT Programs

are we severely inhibiting our ability to digest and assimilate nutrients, we are getting unnecessary junk food cravings as well. After finishing a course of antibiotics, for example, you should take large doses of probiotics to replenish your intestinal tract with friendly bacteria. Otherwise, your intestines will be repopu- lated with yeast, fungus, parasites, and unfriendly bacteria. Food Combining and Digestion The diet our ancestors ate prior to the agricultural revolution did not have any grains or dairy products. Combining grains and dairy products with meat products causes another digestive hur- dle. Meat is digested in an extremely acidic environment in our stomachs; grains, starches, and dairy foods require a more alka- line medium. If we eat both at the same time, neither the meat nor the starches get properly digested. It’s best to eat meat and live food before grains and dairy because if you do you’ll be able to digest both better. It’s also preferable to eat grains after meat in order to slow down the rate at which the sugar from the grains is released into your blood stream. Having sugar enter you’re blood stream slowly is truly crucial for weight loss. Assimilation Whatever nutrients do get extracted from the food we eat need to be able to travel freely through the blood stream to all the cells that require them. If our circulation is impaired because of blockages in our circulatory system, many cells will never be properly nourished. Once the nutrients travel to the cells, they have to be able to enter them. When the FAT Programs are on, the cells become resistant to the effects of the hormone insulin. 2 Although many people are aware of the role of insulin in regulating blood sugar, one of insulin’s other roles is to allow certain nutrients to enter cells. When the FAT Programs are on, many cells become less responsive to insulin. Nutrients cannot enter the cell, and as
