Part IV: Positive Forces that Make Your Body Want to Be Thin

WARNING LETTER

Dear Reader, Hi! It’s me, your friendly author. I know. I’ve used the “E” word.

Right now, you may hate exercise. Most people do. Believe me, I once hated it just as much as you do, and I know what you’re thinking:

“OH (insert your favorite four-letter word)!!!!!!”

“Up until now everything was going great!”

“I KNEW THERE WAS A CATCH!!!!!!!!!!!”

But please hear me out. I am not going to ask you to exercise if you don’t want to. I only want to point out some interesting facts that you may not be aware of regarding exercise. I also have some useful pointers for you on how to get the biggest bang for your buck from exercise, as well as how to get the most fun out of it. So if you choose to exer- cise, you will get very quick results. You will also begin to enjoy exercise rather than dread it. When I weighed over 400 pounds, I’d practically pass out trying to tie my shoelaces. Not only was moving not fun but breathing was even hard. Exercise was the last thing on my mind—right behind trying “The Arctic Jelly- fish Diet.” But you have to understand. Besides the obvious and strictly mechanical challenges that make moving difficult and so unpleasant when you’re overweight, there are also very definite chemical and psychological factors at work here—factors that can cause you to hate exercise.
